Paul Gross

My name is Paul Gross, age 45 born and raised in one of the most aviation minded countries in the World: The Netherlands. A country known for aircraft pioneer Anthony Fokker, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and the legendary Boesman ballooning family, just to name a few. In such an environment it is almost logical that boys look up regularly to see what is flying over their heads. In Mai 1982 new silhouettes filled the skies over my house. The local newspaper reported about a deployment of US Air Force F-15ís at Gilze-Rijen air base. A few days later my father and I went to Gilze-Rijen Air Base where I caught the aviation-virus, that had been flown in by the F-15ís of the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing from Langley Virginia.

In the 30 years that have passed since then I have visited many, many airbases in more than 20 countries. From 2004 onwards this resulted in various articles in aviation magazines, contributions to websites and marketing material of aviation companies etcetera.

The goals of my articles are to provide readers a visually attractive, fun to read and factual correct report on interesting events in aviation. To achieve this I am constantly developing my photography-skills. Also I invest many hours in desk research and field research before submitting an article for publication. Last but not least: in an environment where (political) opinions sometimes collide my goal is to adhere to the tried and tested principle that both sides should be heard.

Apart from aviation photography my interests are skydiving, cycling and inline-skating.
